Question:
Our daughter wants to get contact lenses, and I remember seeing
someone mention a couple mail order sources for these.
If anyone has the info (or bought via mail order), I'd appreciate
getting the address/phone, and any suggestions for best results.
Thanks!
Answer:
I checked into this a while back, and the prices for the mail order
contact lenses weren't any better than I could find locally. Add in the
cost of the 'membership' for most clubs, and the mail order deals are even
less of a good deal.
Also, if your daughter is getting contact lenses for the first time it is
imperative that she return to her optometrist (opthamologist? I can never
remember which does what) for several check-ups to make sure she is
adjusting to the lenses well.
I personally get my lenses from Nationwide Vision. I have noticed that
the local Price/Costco and Sams Clubs also have optometry departments and
offer contact lenses, but at least locally Nationwide has comparable
prices and the office is right next to the grocery story. I simply call
in my order, give 'em a credit card #, and pick up my lenses the next time
I need a gallon of milk.
Of course, if you're not in a major urban area its probably not this easy,
and the mail-order services might be a good deal.
