Question:
What do you know about Nationwide Vision Center?
Answer:
(Sunnyvale, CA) - Children and adults can have their vision
screened for FREE during the month of February at Montgomery
Ward Vision Center in Sunnyvale, California from February 4
through March 16, 1996.
Montgomery Ward's 220 Vision Centers nationwide and cosponsor
Prevent Blindness America join forces to accept the Super
Vision Screening Challenge of screening a total of 15,000
people in 42 days. The Free Vision Screening encourages
current or potential patients and their families to practice
preventive vision care and maintain good eyesight. Screenings
are open to the public, without appointment.
A VISION SCREENING, THOUGH NOT A SUBSTITUTE FOR A COMPREHENSIVE
EYE EXAMINATION, MAY BE A GOOD FIRST STEP IN PROTECTING EYE
HEALTH AND PREVENTING UNNECESSARY BLINDNESS. FURTHER VISUAL
EVALUATION AND A COMPREHENSIVE EYE EXAMINATION ARE RECOMMENDED
WHEN THE SCREENING INDICATES A POSSIBLE VISION PROBLEM.
"Our goal is to find those people who are walking around with
'unrecognized' vision problems," said Grindle. "Eye conditions
not detected or treated early may worsen, contribute to
children's learning problems, and potentially become more
difficult to treat or lead to permanent vision loss."
A vision test, specifically designed for children, will be
coupled with the traditional vision screening tools. The Lea
symbols Test was developed in 1976 for children as young as
three years, using symbols suggesting shapes with whihch all
children are familiar.
