Question:
I have an online eye chart available that I could e-mail anyone whose
having questions about their distance vision. I was in a situation like
this a few months ago before i finally got an eye test and later my first
pair of glasses. So if you want to test your distance vision drop me an
e-mail and i'll send you an eye chart as soon as i can, i know espically
with teenagers(like myself) the possibility of getting glasses is a major
change in a persons life, but i've had no drawbacks in my glasses except
that now i can see clear. What do you know about Online Color Vision Test?
Answer:
Your pediatrition should be doing a basic neurological assesment at each
check up, looking for crossed eyes and pupil reflexes. He/she should also
be evaluating eye fixations and should be looking inside the eyes for
health issues.
Age: birth to 3 years.
Next, an optometrist should perform a complete exam around age three. Why?
Because there is a window of developmental opportunity to intervene and
correct vision, neurological and motor (muscle) dysfunction, and that
window, although it doesn't necessarily close completely, gets pretty darn
narrow as each year passes.
And ANY problems that the parent notices, like unequal pupils, crossed
eyes or uneven tracking, that lasts beyond 6 months requires immediate
attention. (Yes, some strange behavior in eye movement is totally normal,
especially in the first 8 weeks, but not so after about 16 weeks.)
Sorry for being so long winded. All this is fresh in my mind as I am
setting up a vision screening at two local schools for this month. Our
vision screening use two or three doctors, two or three assistants in one
room performing all of the above tests. Kind of like a mini-exam.
Anyway, there's more info posted at my website, entitled "Children's
Vision". That article is scheduled for review and revision next mon
