Question:
Does anyone have tips about glasses for young children? I'm thinking that
metal frames and glass lenses might hold up better during rough play. Do
you have problems with young children losing or breaking their eye wear?
Answer:
I have metal frames on my glasses--they're my first pair so I can't really
compare them to plastic except from what I've heard. I love my frames, I
think that they are a lot stronger than plastic. I don't take very good
care of them--I am so used to them that I sleep in them and get in the
shower with them (I don't notice until they fog up ;) ). The frames
haven't broken once and I've only replaced the lenses a few times so I can
have a stronger prescription and once because I dropped them on the street
a couple of times (I haven't quite figured out how I did that...). Plastic
scratches easier than glass does but is a lot lighter--a definite plus (As
I said, I hardly notice mine and I _don't_ have featherweights). Plastic
has to be taken care of more than glass (so I hear). I was told that I
could not clean my lenses with anything other than a clean cotton cloth and
that I couldn't use cleaner. I've wiped my glasses on whatever shirt I
happen to be wearing and used Windex on them--to no harm.
I'm not sure if this is right but I think that Pearl Vision guarantees
glasses unconditionally...
