Question:
Any opinion about Pearle Vision Express?
Answer:
I tend to steer clear of these modern day "Doc-in-a-Box" eye places. I have
had bad experiences with Lens Express, Wessler Eye Care, and America's Best
Eyeglasses. The doctors at these places are concerned more about the quantity
of work done rather than quality. My exams were hurried and non-personal. I
thought I was having a military exam! Contact lenses should not be anything
less than superior quality - these are your EYES we're talking about here.
More often than not, eye-care "shopping Malls" will push their hot sales item
on you. The doctors are no exception. I was once prescribed a pair of
contacts to which I was highly allergic. Rather than inform me of the allergy,
the Lens Express doc. made me buy replacement lenses "to see how these work
out," again and again.
After opening my eyes (pun intended) and getting a private optometrist, he
quickly changed my prescription and quality of contacts to a brand which I am
not allergic. The fees were quite reasonable considering the personal service
and excellent choice of eye wear available.
Another thing to note is that many of the optometrists who work at these
eyeball chop shops also have a private practice. My optometrist worked at
Pearle Vision when he first got out of school in order to supplement his
associateship. To quote him: "I would work here (at his private practice) to
fix everyone who I messed up over at Pearle." I guess they (the dr's.) are
pressured to meet a quota every day. Quality is NOT high on their priority, as
they usually do not deal with the customer on a face-to-face basis.
