Question:
Is there anyone who has experience of getting refund on prescription eye
glasses?
I have got my glasses on Aug. 7. When I got the glasses, I noticed small
mark on lenses and arranged lens replacement service on the same day. One
Aug. 27, I went the shop to request service which supposed to take couple of
hour. But the sales person who promised the service was not in the shop at
the moment, and the other person asked me to be back on the next day. After
two days later, I went to the shop and I was told that the glasses went back
to the lab, and it will take one week to get ready. I did not get a call
about the situation, and I have to live without my new glasses.
If anyone knows if one can get refund on prescription eye glasses, please
let me know.
Answer:
I started to wear glasses in 80¡¯s. And this was the first time I bought new
glasses in CANADA.
On July 31, I purchased new prescription glasses which worth $680(Lens and
frame together) at Eye World Micmac mall, Dartmouth. The sales person said
it will take about a week to put new lenses on the frame. I thought it was
ridiculously long time, but I agreed to purchase.
After one week, I got a call saying my glasses were ready. When I received
my new glasses, I found that there was a small mark(made by some metal tools
while installing lens) on one lens(actually both lenses had mark but the
other one was hard to notice if I didn¡¯t look carefully). I asked sales
person about the problem, and he told me that he will get a new lens for me
and when the lens come to the shop he will replace the lens while I look
around mall. (Within an hour). About three days later, I got a call the lens
was arrived. But I was busy in preparing my exam, so I finally made my visit
on the day before yesterday.
The problem begins here.
It was about 6PM, and there was unfamiliar sales woman. I asked her if I can
get my lens replace right now, but she told me that he was not available sin
ce it was too late. And she told me if I left my glasses there she would
take care of it by the next day. So it sounded like the next day the sales
person who promised new lens comes to work and do the job.
Even though she told me it would be taken care of the next day, I visited
one more day after. When I asked her about my glasses, she replied she
couldn¡¯t find any lens ordered, so she sent my glasses to the lab yesterday
and it will be ready in one week.
I asked her why she made me believe it would be ready by the next day, and
if it will going to take longer why she did not give me a call so I could
save my time. Or I can keep my glasses until everything is ready.
She replied that the sales person who promised new lens is on vacation, and
She couldn¡¯t understand my problem the other day because my strong accent.
I admit the fact that I am not native speaker so I cannot speak like
Canadian, but I had finished my bachelor and master at Dal. I think my
accent cannot be so bad to make a listener totally misunderstand my
intention. By the way, she also awful speaks fast and not a good speaker
compared to the other sales persons. And I was only customer at that moment,
who else she needed to pay attention?
When she tried to blame my accent about the problem, I asked if she didn¡¯t
tell me that it would be ready by the next day. Since it was true, she told
me she owe me apology for that but she tried not to admit it was her fault
by talking about the sales person went for vacation (which was not told the
day of visit). And keep talking about my accent.
I wonder if there is any refund practice on prescription eye glasses. If
anyone had experience about returning or refund on eye ware, please let me
know.
