Question:
I recently got a pair of eye glasses. They are the kind of glasses
that have the springs in the legs, so that the legs are flexible and
can move out wider than glasses without them and adjust to your face
that way.
The glasses are by Ralph Lauren, and it's a light, delicate design. I
don't feel so comfortable with them because they are so delicate. I
was wondering if there is a way to change the legs on the glasses, so
they are not the spring design and can be the straight kind instead.
I feel that this would make them feel more comfortable.
Is there a way to get such legs that would match with the frame? Such
as would Ralph Lauren have other options for legs that would work with
that frame, or is there some way to get that made?
Answer:
The point of the springs is not to flex outward to fit your head, but to
flex out and back into position when you take them off with one hand (Yeah,
yeah, you're supposed to use two hands but nobody does) or get whacked in
the head with a basketball or your grandkid yanks them off or .... If the
arms are not straight and unflexed when on your head, the frame is too small
or poorly adjusted.
If the glasses are not comfortable, they are either poorly fitted (wrong
size or design for your head) or poorly adjusted. Take them back to where
you got them, explain why they are not comfortable (crooked?, hurt ears?
hurt nose?) and have them adjusted. If you really do not like the frame,
tell them. Most places want happy customers and they will either exchange
the frame or offer you a discount on a different one.
