Question:
I wear soft contact lenses (-9). Without them (or glasses) I cannot get
clear vision at all. I'm also interested in diving. Can somebody wears
contact lenses while doing diving ? Or is it restricted to people with
'healthy' eyes only ?
Answer:
My eyes are worse than yours by a little bit. I to wear soft contact
lenses. I wear my contact lens while swimming or diving (Note: In my
younger days I also wore them water sking) I have never lost a contact
lens while in the water all thourgh
I have come close. The worst time was when I could not get my mask to seal
up on a night dive. I had to abort the dive. I would recommend that you
make sure to have a spare pair of contact lens or your glasses with on the
boat or on sure in case you have bad luck. When you take your Open Water
Diving Class the instructor will check to see who wear contact lens. So
that he will know who will be doing some of the exercises with their eyes
closed.
