Question:
Not only do I still have dizziness, although less frequently than at
the beginning, 8 days ago, but also noticed that yesterday and today
my distant (near-sightedness) vision is somewhat blurry. I usually
see distant objects clearly without glasses. However the last couple
of days I needed to put on my READING glasses to see objects more
clearly. Also, day brightness bothers me and gives me a headache.
These symptoms are similar to those of my last visit with the
ophtamologist when he put drops in my eyes for routine check up. The
effect of the drops created blurred vision and the daylight was
bothersome (in this case it was normal and temporary). I'm not sure
if this is related to the diet and if these are withdrawal symptoms or
is it simply the brain is not getting enough glucose. Has anyone
experience this sort of thing? I really like this WOE and want to
continue, but I'm a bit worried. So far I've lost 2-3 lbs and
generally feel O.K. Thank you all.
Answer:
If you search the threads it's not an uncommon symptom, but the cause is
most often believed to be Aspartame. I experience some really weird episodes
of light headed-like dizzy anxiety attacks and my heart would start racing,
and my vision was also impaired. The good news, I no longer experience these
episodes. They really were only present during the first couple of weeks.
I'm not sure why they stopped. Maybe because I cut back on the Aspartame
(using Splenda now) or maybe it was just my body (and brain) getting used to
a lower carb diet. By the way, although I've lost 20lbs since I started on
Feb 1st of this year, and feel great (at was I feel is an ideal weight) I'm
not yet sold on a low-carb lifestyle. I will be thoroughly convinced when
my Cholesterol info comes in with good news, in a couple of weeks. Sorry I
got a bit off topic. If you're eating aspartame, cut back on it a bit and
see if that helps.
