Question:
Hello,
New here..first post.
I'm interested in taking up target shooting.
I went to a range with a friend today and discovered a vision issue.
I'm 52 years old...I've had cataract implants in both eyes. They're set for
distance..I can read a street sign from two blocks...but I can't see the
sights on a pistol at arms length and the target both clearly. I tried my
reader glasses and can see the sight...but the target is then out of focus.
Anybody have experience with this ..and more hopefully..a solution ?
Answer:
I'm 71. What you want in focus is the sights. It's okay for the
bullseye to be a blur with a round black blur in the center. Line up
the sights precisely and put a hole in that blur. The group will look
fine when you get the target back within range of your reading-glasses.
By the way, you never could see both the sights and the target in focus
at the same time. Your younger eyes could switch back and forth
between them so fast that you didn't notice.
