Question:
I was just wondering where is the best place to buy eye glasses. I guess
after all these years I need some.
I went to Walmart. Costco, Iris, Shoppers optical and Lenscrafters. So far
lenscrafters is going to give me the 30% off for being an ama member. Even
went to some place in Londonderry and they seem quite high in there.
Like to hear from you guys on this as alot of you must buy glasses on a
reg basis.
Is Lenscrafters going to look after me after I bust the glasses?
Any advice about Vision Care Eye Glasses?
Answer:
I've had glasses done at Lenscrafters, Family Vision Care, Shopper's Optical
and Pearl Vision. The optical alignment of my glasses from Lenscrafters was
totally off. Boo . . . Shopper's Optical's edge grinding on their lenses was
quite rough and my mom's allergic to non-titanium and anything that is less
than 18kt gold and even when they say their frames are made out of titanium,
I'm doubtful that they are. Pearl Vision was expensive even for their lens
and frame special and they seem to choose high index lenses with lots more
distortion than other lenses I've tried. Family Vision care bothers me for
some reason . . . I can't remember why exactly.
Anyhow, remember, eye glasses are a health aid . . . as long as the price is
within your budget, get the best pair of glasses you can . . . going through
a good optician after getting a proper eye exam from a good optometrist can
make a big difference if you are using your eyes a lot each day. For
anything prescription, I only go to Campus Eye Centre. The frame selection
isn't bad but the fact that I can get frames that I like else where and
bring them back and know that the end product will be as perfect as humanly
possible is a worthwhile compromise, in my opinion.
