Any experience about Vision Service Plan Insurance?

Question:
I just had a consult for Lasik here in Henderson, NV, and was quoted a price that was over $4,000 for both eyes for something called CustomCornea. I didn't realize the price was so high. I've seen ads touting $300 per eye. Does anyone know why this one place would charge so much more than other places? Also, my current insurance provider, Nevada Care, will not cover the procedure. Does anyone know of an insurance provider that will cover Lasik? Thanks in advance. Any experience about Vision Service Plan Insurance?

Answer:
The good surgeons around here charge around $4000 for a wavefront procedure for both eyes as well. VSP (Vision Service Plan) gets you around a $500 discount off the price. You might call your surgeons office, and ask them which insurance plans offer you a discount. I am unaware of any plans that cover the price completely. I've seen the ads around here (Portland, OR) for the $299 LASIK, too, and I noticed that the fine print says that the price is only available with the Nidek laser (older technology) and only certain prescriptions apply. I would stay away from these places like the plague.
