Question:
I was recently diagnosed with glaucoma. The diagnosis was triggered by
a field vision test, which showed I had lost some field vision, mainly
towards the bridge of my nose.
So far, I have not noticed any other symptoms. My consultant has said
that I wouldn't, and that I wouldn't notice the loss of field vision at
this stage (that's why they use a machine).
My eyesight is fine (with glasses) reading the chart (down to the last
line). I am under treatment (drops) which is lowering the IOP. However,
it's too soon for the *rate* (if any) of progression to be charted.
I informed the DVLA, and they have arranged an appointment for another
field vision test.
Does anyone have any experience of how high/low they set they bar ?
Any advice about Vision Test Chart?
Answer:
Hope that the drops control your glaucoma. My father suffered glaucoma in
his last decade, and drops controlled it..
Don't know the answer to your query, but my father was also suffering from
the development of cataracts and was not told by the optician or GP. After
driving without incident for about 40 years, he had 4 minor accidents within
a year, with the last accident attracting the attention of the police.
Only then, was he told about his cataracts. Professional negligence?
