Question:
My daughter went for her first eye exam and was told that she needs glasses
because her eyes cross when something is close to her, but they are
straight when it is far away. Has anyone else had to get glasses for their
baby? Which type work best? How to keep them on her? I don't want to
waste my money and buy ones and get them broken or her grow out of them too
quick please let me know which worked on your kids. Glasses are not
covered in my insurance so I'm hoping they are not too expensive. Well let
me know. Any opinion about Wal Mart Vision Center Glasses?
Answer:
I had to get glasses for my son when he was 3yrs, and I 'll tell you it was
a battle the first year! I elected to find a prescription center that had a
full year warranty on the frames (they can run 19.95-79.00) and would
replace the prescription lenses for up to a year, if his prescription
changed anytime throughout the year. Wal-mart vision center met all of our
needs with this. Just make sure when you take her for her next eye exam,
that it falls within the covered year. We have Cody's eyes checked every
year about the same time, but we make the appointment 1 month before the
actual prescription expires, so Walmart will honor the warranty. We have
gone through the cheap frames vs. the expensive frames, and the flex frames
work the best. They fall in the moderate category. We never used the ban
that goes around the back of the neck, but they work. Cody would always have
a problem laying them down somewhere and not remembering where. We still
have that same problem and he's 8! They great thing about the glasses, is
that he was so amazed at how well he could see, that he would in fact wear
them. Think about being able to see the detail of the leaves on a tree. I'm
sure there are good vision centers out there, just check out the warranty
gtd's, replacement information and pick the best one. Like you, we do not
have insurance to cover this, so with kids you need a good value!
